When getting an oil change at any quick lube center, one of the things I really appreciate is the fact that they let me know when I need a windshield wiper replaced. There’s nothing worse than driving around in a messy snow or rain and having windshield wipers that aren’t any good. But what could be worse than needing new windshield wipers? Try the need for a windshield replacement.
Reasons to get a windshield replacement
After an accident, if your windshield has been cracked or broken, you’ll undoubtedly need a windshield replacement. It can be very dangerous to drive around with a compromised windshield. Not only can it impair your vision, but also the windshield could shatter completely if you hit a pothole, another vehicle or if someone hits you.
God forbid your vehicle might be in a drive-by shooting, but that would definitely call for a windshield replacement.
Some people develop sunlight sensitivity and desire a new windshield replacement. There are methods available for reducing sunlight glare without a windshield replacement. The best thing is to do your research to see about the options available.
A windshield replacement is a great idea even if your windshield just has a few chips and little holes in it. Why live with the eyesore?
Windshield Replacement – Then and Now
In the past, getting a windshield replacement may not have been as expensive as it is now, but that’s because today’s car manufacturers make windshields that are tougher; they use more glass, and as a result, the windshields endure longer. The extra strength in the overall care of your windshield guarantees it will not be broken as easily, or as quickly.
When a windshield has been damaged, it’s important to have the windshield replacement done right away. The windshield not only protects you from the elements, but it’s also attached to the rest of your car. If one section suffers, the rest of the car might too. So, if you need a windshield replacement, contact an auto repair shop for cost estimations right away. Make sure to check with your insurance company or with the insurance agency of the party that hit your car, and caused the breakage, to see what is covered. After an accident, the other person’s insurance company should cover all damages under their liability insurance.
When you’re car is in the shop for a windshield replacement, the other party’s insurance company will make sure you have a rental car to get around in. If you need to get a windshield replacement, and it won’t be covered under your insurance, the cost may be quite steep. Be prepared to make financial arrangements with the repair shop. Some people put the windshield replacement on their credit card, and others get a small loan from family or the bank. Hopefully, your insurance company will cover your windshield replacement and you’ll be back in the driver’s seat before you know it!
