Keeping a Weight Loss Journal

 

A good tool to help you in you achieve your fitness goals would be a weight loss journal. In this journal, you should right down everything you eat from morning to evening. That way, you can see what your eating habits are like and how you could potentially change them.

A weight loss journal could also be used as a type of diary. You could write down your thoughts, emotions, and weekly progress. This could be helpful since you'll be able to keep track of how you’ve changed (both physically and mentally) during your weight loss journey.

When I first started my fitness regime I kept a weight loss journal. I wrote down everything I ate and at what times. This helped me to realize that in an average day, I would crave a sugary snack during the mid-morning and early afternoon. With this information in mind, I changed by eating habits and had a piece of fruit or a protein bar in the mid-morning and early afternoon to keep myself from gorging on sugar-filled brownies or cakes.

If you have the time, you can also write down the nutritional content of all your foods in the weight loss journal. This technique will allow you to see the breakdown of your foods and their nutritional value. This is very helpful for those people who are trying to stay on a reduced calorie diet.

A drawback to keeping a weight loss journal is that they are easy to forget if you’re out on the town or at work. I’ve left my weight loss journal at home many times during the week. If this happens to you, it would be best to just use a piece of paper or sticky note to jot down your foods. Then bring it home and staple it into your journal.

If you have a really bad memory and know you won’t be able to keep track of your journal, technology is here to help you. It’s now possible to purchase computer software with a weight loss journal feature in it. You could download this software at home and at work, so you always have a journal near by.
