You can look over the credentials and experience of those agents, and choose which San Francisco real estate agent is right for you.

  • San Francisco real estate agent: Buyer’s or seller’s agent?

When you’re looking for you San Francisco real estate agent, you may want to find out whom the agent represents -- the buyer, the seller, or both. You want to make sure your San Francisco real estate agent has your best interests in mind.

California is one of the few places with official buyer’s agents that are not obligated legally to represent the seller, so you may want to ask if your San Francisco real estate agent is a buyer’s agent if you’re in the market to buy or invest in a San Francisco home.

  • Specialization and professional contacts

A good San Francisco real estate agent will specialize in certain areas or certain types of property. He or she will be knowledgeable about the San Francisco areas you are looking to buy in or sell from.

A good San Francisco real estate will also have good professional contacts with San Francisco title offices, property inspectors, lenders, insurance agents, and more to help you through each step of buying or selling your San Francisco home.

  • Agent…. or educator?

A good San Francisco real estate agent will be both. He or she should be able and willing to educate you on each of the processes involved with buying or selling a San Francisco home. He or she should also regularly update you on ‘home-work’ results – that is, what he or she has done towards finding you the perfect San Francisco home (finding appropriate listings, scheduling showings, etc.) or her efforts and progress in selling your San Francisco home.

The best San Francisco real estate agent will have your best interests in mind. You are also likely to get the most out of the services a San Francisco real estate agent has to offer if you know what your goals are before you decide on an agent.

For example, decide if there is a minimum you need to sell your home for, if you’re selling. If you are in the market to buy a San Francisco home, check out some of the real estate listings offered online to get a better idea of what you want. The clearer you are on what you want, the better your San Francisco real estate agent can serve you.
