Hotel Reno Nevada
by Shari Bookstaff
Looking for a place where you have fantastic vistas, wonderful food, exciting nightlife, and you can find a great resort hotel? Reno, Nevada combines the best of Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, casinos and skiing, ritzy shows and fabulous views, theme resort hotels and wilderness. Many of the big-name casino resorts have staked out a spot in Reno, but you can also find a unique hotel. Reno, Nevada has hotels such as the Atlantis Casino Resort, with a lush tropical theme direct from the South Pacific. Parrots talk while you eat; fish swim in a stream in the steakhouse (just for decoration, not as a potential dinner) and twin Grecian columns depict the lost City of Atlantis. All of these features give this resort a full theme.
As usual in a casino resort town, a place to stay is more than just a hotel. Reno, Nevada has been dubbed “The Biggest Little City in the World”, little sister to Las Vegas. Three luxury casino resorts, the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus are connected in a tri-property complex including 20 restaurants and 200,000 square feet of gambling space. Indoor walkways on the promenade level connect the three hotels. Be sure you know which hotel your room is in—the elevators at each hotel look quite similar!
Aside from gambling, remember that your hotel Reno, Nevada is just an hour away from one of the premier skiing destinations in the country. Lake Tahoe offers fabulous Sierra Snow, spectacular mountain views, and world-class ski resorts. The ski season may last from November through April, with schedules varying by resort. Most of the major ski areas use snow-making machines to compensate for any lack of winter weather. You may even choose to make your hotel in Reno your home base, with day trips to great downhill and cross-country destinations. The Sierra Nevada Mountain range, which runs down much the length of California, is a great area to spend a week-long vacation. Skiing, nightlife, casinos, broadway-quality shows, and pampering at some of the most luxurious hotels in the country gives you something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Tips on Gambling at hotel Reno, Nevada
Since you chose to vacation in Reno, chances are you will gamble at some point during your stay. Here are a few tips to make sure you go home with your shirt (and marriage) intact.
- Don’t gamble more than you can afford to lose. Look at gambling money as money spent on entertainment, not a way to go home rich.
- Know the rules of the game you’re playing. Once you put your chips on Black 15 at the roulette table, for example, and the wheel starts spinning, you can’t change your mind.
- Try playing the nickel slots—you can make $5 last a while!
- Try playing different casinos in different hotels. They have different themes, you’ll get some exercise, and break the hypnotic effect casinos have on you.
Whether it is the nightlife, casinos, skiing, or snowboarding, the Reno-Tahoe area has it all.
