Canada Ski Vacation
by Peter Sylvester
You can spend the long Canadian winters on a Canada ski vacation.
There is a wide panoply of ski resorts. Although the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia and Alberta are ski meccas, the Laurentian mountains in Ontario and Quebec also figure highly.
There are also a number of smaller hills on which to enjoy a Canada ski. Vacation options are everywhere - some of them reasonably cheap. Even river valleys and large hills are transformed into ski slopes - so somewhere or other a Canada ski vacation can be enjoyed.
Take a look through the list of resorts to find somewhere that will meet your ski demands. There are hills for experienced skiers but there are others more appropriate for beginners. To implement this, hill statistics include the percentage of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs, total elevation gain and snow conditions.
Canada Ski Vacation - Skiing in Quebec
Tremendous conditions are available in or near Quebec. With an average annual snowfall of 3 m (12 ft.) from November to April, what more could you want? A Canada ski vacation is a certain delight for skiers of all standards.
Over a million people enjoy themselves to the full on the skiing trails. There are almost a hundred hills , most of them near Québec City or Montréal (in the Laurentian mountains and the Eastern Townships). And there are over two thousand miles of cross country skiing to delight the enthusiast.
Plus - in the resorts which nestle cosily at the foot of the hills - both skiing and apres-skiing are catered for.
Canada Ski Vacation - Banff Alberta
This is in the heartland of the Rockies offering restaurants, shops and all the apres-ski you could wish for. Whirlpools and steam-rooms add to the well-groomed surroundings of an excellent Canada ski vacation.
Hotels are good and include a hostel rated in the top ten of the five thousand or so worldwide sites.
Canada Ski Vacation - Whistler
Whistler has become one of the strongest contenders for the much disputed title of 'world's greatest ski resort.' Involving both tremendously good skiing (with a truly great high-speed lift system) and a vast array of après-ski alternatives and comprehensive facilities, it seems to win hands down.
In the '90's, Whistler has repeatedly been voted 'Best North American Ski Resort' by North Americans and in Japan it is consistently voted the favorite international destination for Japanese skiers. It affords access to the two mountains with North America's biggest skiable verticals, the biggest ski area on the continent and the most high-speed lifts on the planet. The snowfall averages more than 10 metres a year. The place is pedestrian only and filled with cafés, international stores and around 100 restaurants including Chinese, French, Greek, Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Thai cuisine.
If skiing, shopping, eating and sleeping are not enough for your Canada ski vacation then………well, you’ll still find something to do!
